The discoveries at Feudo Antico never end!

In 282 A.D., the emperor Marcus Aurelius Probus, by an edict, decided to plant vineyards where Roman legions had conquered land, both to mark the borders and to feed the legions themselves. And it is precisely this emperor who is portrayed on some of the coins found by Feudo Antico during archaeological excavations and from which the winery drew inspiration for its Moneta line.
Furthermore, a study has confirmed that Chardonnay has ancient Roman origins. Thanks to DNA techniques, it was discovered that as many as 78 of the world’s most widespread grape varieties (accounting for 75% of wine production, which includes Chardonnay among others) have a single original strain, the heunusch, which dates back to Roman imperial times.
